Hamilton North School caters for students with special learning needs from 5 to 21 years from Hamilton and the surrounding rural areas and towns. The school comprises a base school, and three satellite units attached to St Andrew's Middle, Crawshaw and Waipa Schools. Since the previous review, facilities at the base school have been extended and upgraded with additional classroom units, offices for the on-site specialist staff and improvements to parking areas and traffic flows. A caring, affirming and optimistic environment is evident throughout the school. Positive relationships are contributing to a calm and settled atmosphere in the school, where students are valued and encouraged to make progress in their learning and social development. The school enjoys a postive and supportive partnership with parents and caregivers. Caregivers and whanau appreciate the inclusive and empathetic culture of the school and value the ready accessibility to teachers and specialist staff.
